Some Days, I Just Have Commitment Issues To Everything... Even My Regular Morning Coffee

so on top of doing a top ten list in music i want to add 2 of my awesome things a week, until i reach 100, thanks to the website 1000awesomethings.com . Some of the things the author comes up with are hilarious and others you just think 'that's so true!' So here goes...

100. When itunes set to random picks the BEST music for what you're feeling
come on. Have you ever had a day where you wake up and you just need to get going so you turn on itunes and it picks the best mix of songs to get you going? or maybe you're feeling a little lonely and the music just makes you feel not so lonely because there are artists who have been there and written songs about it. If not, well you need to seriously reconsider your itunes library, because you just must not have a wide selection (or maybe tooooooo wide)

99. You forgot your laptop charger and you have enough battery left to finish up what you were doing
You're in class taking notes and you realize you only have 25% battery left. Or you took your laptop to a friends house and you're playing music but you see you're battery is going to die soon. Sometimes you run into luck and you have just enough to make it through the class or until you leave your friends (although sometimes you may have to dim the screen lighting and quit a few 'excessive apps). But either way, you feel like you made it. Kudos to you. Just don't forget the plug next time

After this move, I've decided to only take clothes and books the next time I move

Writing a take home exam and i'm bored out of my mind and have an odd feeling of hopelessness coming over me. Also listening to the Styrofoam remix of Drugs Or Me by Jimmy Eat World and I think I like it more than the original. And I really do love the original. *This brown sweater is really itchy* So i found this list on someones facebook and decided to try it and take my mind off the exam.

- OK, here are the rules. Test your memory and your love of live music by listing 50 artists or bands (or as many as you can remember) you've seen in concert. List the first 50 acts that come into your head. An act you saw at a festival and opening acts count, but only if you can't think of 50 other artists. Oh, and list the first concert you ever saw (you can remember that, can’t you)?

Let's see if I can do this...

1. Matchbox Twenty
2. Bad Religion
3. Paramore
4. The Sounds
5. Augustana
6. No Doubt
7. Rob Thomas
8. The Faint
9. Death Cab for Cutie
10. Sunny Day Real Estate
11. Paper Route
12. AFI
13. Dashboard Confessional
14. Jack's Mannequin
15. All Time Low
16. Rose Against
17. My Chemical Romance
18. Taking Back Sunday

20. Motion City Soundtrack
21. Bayside
22. Jenny Lewis
23. New Found Glory
24. The Starting Line
25. The Audition
26. The Almost
27. Stone Temple Pilot
28. The Wallflowers
29. Moving Units
30. Anberlin
31. Snow Patrol
32. Anna Nalick
33. AutoErotique

Thanksgiving

Julia Nunes makes me want to play the melodica

In other news... I am moving out of my current place. IN doing so, I have learned that my collection of books is bordering on enough to fill a few sections of a library.
Really Truly... NO lies there... and maybe enough poli sci books to fill the political science section of a library. i would say borders, but i don't have enough copies of each to really sell them.

It's starting to finally get cold enough to be called winter. Not real winter like you people back east, or even close enough to what people in NZ would call brisk. But cold enough for those os us with Cali blood to say brrrrrr and put away our tank tops, shorts and jandals.

Recommended to me by some Cough (Matthew Gray Gubler)Cough
http://www.27bslash6.com/matthewsparty.html

So crunch time is approaching us all. Finals in less than a month. Thanksgiving less than a week away. Christmas like 5 weeks away. Vacations, trips, holiday gatherings to plan. And i'm just stoked to be back with b.
As corny as it sounds i can't wait to finally do thanksgiving myself and bake all day and cook and create a pretty table set up. Ahh thanksgiving. How i love you

"Men Do Things For Women Without Expecting Sex." "Those Would Be Men Who Just Had Sex"

Apparently my ability to keep postings only to a thursday have proved poor. But hey you just get more of me and what could be better?

In Honor of my favorite season, i decided to do a top 10 of songs that include the word fall, or autumn, in them. Figure i should do this soon since fall is over in about a month. I have a hard time thinking of top 10 lists, so if you have any suggestions, leave 'em in the comment section and i'll do my best to do a list on it.

Top 10 - Songs with "Fall/Autumn"

10. Fall Children - AFI
Nothing sentimental @ all about this song. Would be pretty cool to play @ your front door though to scare away trick-or-treaters. Maybe i'm just a meany. But this reminds me of AFI and how much i wish they had stayed true to the AFI rather than Blaqk Audio. I love any song in which the rest of the band plays a part as back-up vocals as they have always created a great sense of power, so my kudos to the boys in this song for definitely not being a let down.

9. Watching Me Fall - the Cure
I have the American Psycho remix and it's more techno and dancy than any of the other songs on this list. But you have to love the Cure and everyone has a favorite from them. This one would surprisingly (to others) be mine.

8. Autumn Leaves - Nat King Cole
What makes you swoon more than Nat King Cole crooning. His description of fall is so vivid and the correlation of the seasons with love creates a romantic sense. If anyone should have been a part of the rat pack, it should have been Nat.

7. Autumn Shade - The Vines
I've had this album for longer than i can remember. A lot like the Pinback song in this list, there is an eeriness to it. Maybe it's a recurring theme in songs with the word autumn or fall in them. But The Vines have been around (in my music library) and i'm glad i was finally able to incorporate them into a list.

6. Grand Theft Autumn - Fall Out Boy
Say what you will about Fall Out Boy. I haven't listened to anything after "from under the cork tree" came out but from what i used to listen to them, this was one of my favorite songs. Sure I've developed my musical tastes substantially since my immediately post high school years, but can you ever really forget the songs you used to blast in your car when you finally got your freedom?

5. Sometimes in the Fall -
Dancy, French Pop-py. I think this song would be bettered as a remix but on it's own it does have the ability to stand out in a playlist or itunes library. I always imagine this might be a good song if you were walking around a city on your day off or just minding your own business. Just play it and imagine yourself walking around a busy city. The lyrics kind of explain a feeling you might get from just living life.

4. Every Man I Fall For - Cold War Kids
Fell like there is just something missing from this song but as a local band (Long Beach CA) they're pretty interesting. At about 1:10 the singers voice picks up strength and there is a sense of power that makes the song worth keeping on repeat for a while. Great song to listen to while taking a hot bath on a cold autumn night.

3. Autumn of the Seraphs - Pinback
I'm no "biggest fan" of pinback but i've come to listen to them and enjoy their subtle lyrics to more i listen. I've actually really only been listening to them for about 9 months. But this song has a eeriness about it. Yet a steady beat keeping it alive. I think it actually best encompasses the mood of fall/autumn especially around the halloween.

2. Fall For You - The Whitlams
Probably a band most of you have never heard of. Don't even know if they're still around. This song has a sad romantic tone to it. The singer always has this voice that sounds like he's from Sweden or some European country but actually the band is from Australia. The band as a whole is hit and miss with their songs, but the ones you do find are amazing treasures. Check out "blow up the pokies" if you need another Whitlams suggestion.

1. November - Azure Ray
Although technically there is no fall/autumn in the song title, November is a month in autumn/fall so i'm going to count it as one. Azure ray is one of those bands that becomes a favorite pretty soon after you start listening to them. Her voice is so amazing and sincere and the song reminds me of a verbal diary entry or a letter.

I Found Some Hate For You Just For Show, You Found Some Love For Me, Thinking I'd Go

Places to Visit
Milford Sound - New Zealand
Moscow - Russia
Morocco
Prague - Czech Republic
Bordeaux - France

And lastly my favorite place in the world... Whangamata - New Zealand (one place on this list i have been)

Love is a brittle madness, sing about it in all my sadness and I'm falsified to say that i've found god

Paramore show last night at the Palladium was fucking fantastic and the craziest pit i've ever been in. They played Careful, Caught Myself and Conspiracy (all C's) which really made my night. I'm sure i can find the set list somewhere online and maybe i'll post it later.

"One Of Those Days" Joshua Radin

"Wait right here",
Is all she said to me
And so right here I stay

Time has reached our home
And I've been left alone
It's carried her away

And everyone keeps saying,
"Nothing helps but time"
Time is all I own

And time won't stop replaying
Over in my mind
I watch the hours slow down

So I crawl underneath my blanket
Where I can hide away, I know I can't take it
'Cause I see now, it's just one of those days

Now a year has passed
Alone I stay inside
And I await the rain

To wash away your face
So I don't have to hide
The sight of you is painful

So I crawl underneath my blanket
Where I can hide away, I know I can't take it anymore
'Cause I see now, it's just one of those days

And I can't stop seeing your face
I can't stop seeing your face every place

So I crawl underneath my blanket
Where I can hide away, I know I can't take it anymore
'Cause I see now, it's just one of those days
Yeah

mixing things up by putting the song lyrics first... or at-least BEFORE the actually blogging part of the blog. I exercised my domestic goddess ability (because i only have one) of baking tonight. I had a bag of white chocolate chips and baking goods but no idea what to make. Actually i had wanted to make cupcakes but i didn't have the vanilla and nothing for frosting and not enough butter.

Also decided to make this blog a Thursday blog. So every Thursday there will be a new one of these. Hopefully this will keep me from updating too regularly and not updating enough.

For the interesting websites section of the week:
SSWestern - Been following this for quite some time. Run by my good friend Ali Showkati. If you're into comics or just like having the once a week updated websites with a story this is for you. There is a content advisory for the site but i do assume that you all have the ability to discern for yourself whats acceptable and not. It's a web comic based on a film screen play he's been working on. Enjoy

For you bakers/chefs/creative types, this website is called smittenkitchen and i've been dying to try making they're irish car bomb cupcakes. I've been saying this for forever but i jsut never have the time or ingredients. (i don't often buy Guinness unless i could substitute Steinlager for it)

ok well thats all i got for now... g'night

I'm Far Gone But Your Long Distance Call and Your Capital Letters Keep Me Asking For More

500full-zooey-deschanel.jpg

she posts many more pictures than me, so maybe you'll be slightly more entertained by her blogs. But that doesn't mean you can desert me!!

Anyway enjoy... and here is a new song i recommend you all to listen to... i can't find the lyrics but the song is awfully pretty. It's called "You're my lover now" by Pieta Brown. I heard her on KCRW's top tune of the day. They're the people that do morning becomes eclectic and all that jazz. I get their podcasts for free on itunes so check it out and download then daily if you can. You won't be sorry.

I could follow you to the beginning just to relive the start and maybe then we'll remember to slow down

late night post. Say hullo. Really wish i had a day to just sleep in, kick back, head to sprinkles, go for a run. Find time for more than just the movies i can fit in while writing an essay or studying for a midterm. Currently watching Saw V. Its a little ehhhhh but i feel like now that i've started i've gotta finish it.

One armed scissor. Its not going to get you very far when trying to cut paper... but it does make for a great song by At The Drive-In... found an AP article in a previous edition and they did interviews with musicians (like anberlin, paramore, AFI, taking back sunday) to get their view and opinions on former bands. Really good. The article on AFI this month only reaffirmed my belief that AFI has become a 'DAVEY HAVOC' rather than 4 dudes in a band. The pictures only further my belief by showing only close ups of Davey. Nothing against Davey, but i would love to be able to buy a magazine and rip out a whole page with a picture of just Adam. Whoever said Drummers are the most unseen in a band might have been right, but it doesn't mean that off the stage they deserve to be treated the same way.

Planning on buying more DVDs in the future to actually start a library. Only own maybe 10 DVDs right now. What i want most currently is the whole criminal minds series and all of Wes Anderson's films. Right now i currently only own The Royal Tennenbaums but i think it's my favorite one so far. Can't wait to get around to seeing the Fantastic Mr. Fox. So excited.

Speaking of excited, of course i'm stoked for New Jersey in 6 weeks. I'll be so happy school is over that i probably won't care if all we do is spend all day in bed while it's snowing outside and we only crawl out of bed for food (unless it's being served to us... i'll totally settle for that) But also about new jersey i really really really want another tattoo. like INSANELY badly. So i was looking up pictures and i found this one. Wasn't intentionally even looking for tattoos. I just thought it looked really pretty. And speaking of pictures i really love the one at the beginning of the post. If i could be brave enough again and lose like 30 lbs i would love to cut my hair like that again. So pretty. But the mug is also fabulous.

Well speaking of hair i finally got around to recolouring my hair after two months of avoiding going to get my roots redone. This picture looks really corny right now... but the fact that the picture includes my dearest Adam Carson makes this picture serve a dual purpose.

my throat is somewhat sore currently so i'm working on pumping down the hot tea with honey and avoiding all people with coughs or the swine flu. CANNOT afford to get sick YET again this semester. This is the most i've been sick in a semester. But what would instantly make me feel better is if i could be drinking my tea from this...

YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT

Cold Hands - AFI
How I regret what I must do but you've left me no choice.
Though I still strain I can't recall the beauty of your fey voice.
Now that I've heard come through the walls a song I've heard many times
I must return all you gave me in the company of swine.
We had found sacred ground you burnt down.

I thought you sang so tastefully but now I see I was wrong.
Your serenade turns to filth when I leave so, please, cut the love song.

How I regret what I must do but you must be replaced
For I cannot go on suffering such simple and common tastes.
When you met my eyes you sang to me of passion, pain and will.
When I blinked you turned away to kiss the hand of filth.
You had found sacred ground I'll burn down

Tell me who will hear your voice, your song,
When the smoke has cleared and the lights are gone?
Tell me, who appears when I'm gone.

Where We Used To Play - AFI

I might seem a bit peculiar
A bit not right
For though I try, I remain a stranger not of this time.

I swear I'm almost there
Though I've been wandering for days.
I may be chasing ghost trains hoping they'll arrive
Where we used to play.
I may be hopping ghost trains for they terminate
Where we used to play in those days.

I know I'm with strangers I recognize and I realize my own disowned me. Were never mind.

I swear I'm almost there.

This is right where we used to play.

I may be chasing ghost trains hoping they'll arrive
Where we used to play.
I may be hopping ghost trains for they terminate
Where we used to play in those days.

I never will let it go until I find the place I called mine.
I never was truly meant for this time.
